The work explores a contradiction: the desire to hide and the impossibility of vanishing. The piece is built on a contrast of textures - dense impasto brushstrokes in the hair against a soft, multilayered rendering of the skin. The red underpainting shines through the upper layers, creating a sense of inner glow. The background is rendered dark, featuring scratched lines and a red border along the edges of the canvas that maintains the color temperature within the composition.
